The Anxiety of Transition ❤️

We made it to 2023 y’all!!

With every new year comes some sort of transition.

For my family, the wave’s crash was delayed, returning to school and regularly scheduled “programming” on the 9th of January.

Every time we are getting back into the swing, for whatever reason, I’m reminded of a profound statement a dear friend made many many years ago: “There is a reason why there are no photos of the SECOND day of school”.

As she’d said it, she was wearing her pajamas and climbing back into her car. We were in the school parking lot after we’d both dropped our kids. They were all marked tardy😕😬

As I was returning home early Monday morning, the first morning back, after dropping my oldest, now in high school, I was sleepy. I thought, momentarily, that what was in front of me was an optical illusion.

It was not!

I do not know what occurred just BEFORE this bus ended up between a light post and a planter in my neighbors’ front lawn. . . just missing a utility box, with less than 4 feet of clearance on either side 😬😳. . .

I know that the bus was transporting differently abled, young-adult students to their first day back to a county-wide educational program.

I watched, along with 3-4 local police officers as the guardian of one of the students ushered them from the bus to a van.

I cannot say whether the bus’s unorthodox position occurred because of the high pitched, frantic screeching coming from the student or whether the anxious screeching happened because of the unorthodox positioning of the bus.

I know next to nothing about the driver or her passengers.

Since this fated first day back, I’ve been reflecting on our varying sensitivites.

Routine is important to us all. Change is HARD. We CAN do hard things!!!! More often than not though, we need lo so much help to do them❤️❤️💪🏻😊

Who has helped you transition into 2023??

Please comment and tell me, tell THEM!!

Happy New Year!!
